Aussie Mark Vos is a Poker Pro
If you happen to hear that "Pokerbok" will be playing in a major poker tournament, it is actually pertaining to poker professional Mark Vos. His nickname in the poker world is "Pokerbok." He was born in Cape Town, South Africa but has always been an Australian citizen. He finished high school at Waldorf High School, which is located in Constantia. During that time, Mark Vos was always the representative in the interprovincial mathematics Olympiads. He studied college at the Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia but did not graduate because he wanted to pursue a full time career in playing poker. Well, that was the life of Mark Vos before he ventured into the world of professional poker. Now, let's take a look at his life in the poker tournament circuit.
Mark Vos started honing his skills by playing poker on the Internet. This was during the middle of 2004 and the first poker game that he tried online was limit hold'em. As soon as he could consider himself as an expert in limit hold'em games, he shifted to playing no-limit games. In such a short span of time, Mark Vos became known as one of the best online poker players worldwide. He was soon found participating in online tournaments and cash games that were considered the most expensive ones. And up until now, he is still found joining high-end poker tournaments and cash games on the Internet.
Mark Vos has of course joined several Australian poker tournaments. The first notable one occurred in January 2006 when he cashed in the money in the No Limit Hold'em Championship game conducted during the Crown Australian Poker Championship. This poker professional also made money finishes in January 2007 when he joined the Crown Aussie Millions Championship. The events that Mark Vos participated in were No Limit Hold'em and Pot Limit Omaha.
Mark Vos also joined World Series of Poker events several times between 2006 and 2007. The first one was held in July 2006 when he became the first prize winner in a No Limit Hold'em game at the 37th Annual World Series of Poker (WSOP). Of course, this poker professional earned a WSOP bracelet as well as the prize money worth US$803,274. He was also a participant of two events featured at the 38th Annual World Series of Poker, and also a participant of the World Series of Poker Europe.
Aside from the mentioned major poker tournaments, Mark Vos also joined other major poker events such as the Grosvenor World Masters, the Victorian Poker Championship, the PAPT Philippines Open, and the Barcelona Open of the European Poker Tour.
